NOTES
Spy Valley Wines is situated on the sunny southern side of Marlborough's Wairau Valley, nestled on the terraces of the Omaka River are the vineyards of Johnson Estate. The brand name SPY VALLEY is derived from the presence of a satellite communications monitoring station (spy base) nearby, part of the Echelon Global Network.
Sauvignon Blanc is grown in our Marlborough vineyard on stony riverbed terraces, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks to give intense passionfruit and gooseberry fruit characters. The wine is fruit-driven in style, with complexity from lees ageing for several months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. This wine is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavours and crisp acid in a dry style.
TASTING NOTES
Pale straw in colour, the wine reveals a bouquet powerful fruit aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit and an underlying 'sweat' character. Complex mineral and sweet-pea notes add interest. The palate is rich and ripe with generous palate weight. Sweet fruit flavours dance over the tongue and end with a sustained, dry finish.
