NOTES
Spy Valley Wines is situated on the sunny southern side of Marlborough's Wairau Valley, nestled on the terraces of the Omaka River are the vineyards of Johnson Estate. The brand name SPY VALLEY is derived from the presence of a satellite communications monitoring station (spy base) nearby, part of the Echelon Global Network.
Pinot Gris produces low yields of concentrated grapes on a stony riverbed terrace in our Marlborough vineyard. Grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks to give intense floral and fresh pear flavours. This wine is produced from very ripe grapes, with intense aromas and a rich, minerally, persistent palate.
TASTING NOTES
Pale straw in colour, the wine explodes with a bouquet of guava, melons and ripe pears with a dash of baked apple crumble. The palate is long and rich with ripe fruit up front leading to a complex finish. A full palate but retaining lovely elegance.
