NOTES
Domaine Chandon was established by French champagne house Moët & Chandon in 1986 and is dedicated to the production of Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wine and premium quality, cool-climate still Victorian wines.
Set in the verdant hills of Victoria’s beautiful Yarra Valley, just a short drive from Melbourne, the winery attracts more than 110,000 visitors a year. While the sparkling wines are the driving force, Chandon’s table wines have largely flown under the radar. Having detached from the Green Point name, the revamped packaging along with glowing reviews from James Halliday has helped launch these wines into some of Australia’s great wines.
TASTING NOTES
Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson mauve hue. Top note of ripe plum, blackberry, vanilla and spice. Excellent fruit flavours of spice, plum and liquorice over a blackberry background. Perfect balance. Long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry and spice.
REVIEWS
Full crimson-purple; a wine that brings out all the best features of Heathcote, the fragrant aromas of cherry and spice leading into a beautifully balanced, elegant, medium-bodied palate that flows across the tongue, finishing with succulent tannins. Screwcap.14% alc. 96 Points James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010
