NOTES
Located in the cooler West Wairau Valley in the Marlborough region, the Momo label presents a range of classically Marlborough-styled wines. The name “Momo” is Maori for “offspring” and this certainly shows in these wines produced from Seresin Estate managed vineyards, as they reflect the same quality and care in winemaking that Seresin Estate wines do.
The 2008 MOMO Pinot Gris is a blend of fruit from vineyards located in the Omaka and Wairau Valley of Marlborough. The fruit for this Pinot Gris was hand-picked between March 26 and April 9, whole-bunch pressed and cool fermented to retain fruit flavour. A portion was aged in seasoned French oak barriques for three months, for added texture and complexity.
TASTING NOTES
Pale in colour, with a golden hue, the bouquet tantalises with aromas of nashi pear, quince and apple crumble.
The palate is soft and textural, rich with flavours of fig and stone-fruit and a creaminess balanced by a fine acidity. Delicious with pork, Asian inspired dishes, or try it with a salad of blue cheese, pear and walnut. This wine has the potential to improve over the next five years, whilst providing enjoyable drinking immediately.
REVIEWS
"The pleasant floral aromas are smoothly followed by ripe fruit flavours married to a soft acidity and an off dry finish. A feminine wine in an easy drinking style." Tizwine.Com (NZ & UK) November, 2008
