Chapman Grove ’Atticus’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 (Margaret River, WA)

NOTES

The Atticus range strives to achieve the best the Margaret River terroir can offer and is symbolised by the “Spirit of the Vine” – Anima Vitium. These wines have been produced using estate grown fruit carefully nurtured on the vine, skilfully crafted and finished in the best French oak to accentuate the distinctive varietal fruit flavours.

The range consists of a Chardonnay, Shiraz and a Cabernet Sauvignon. The Atticus wines are small in volume but great in stature.

TASTING NOTES

The wine exhibits lovely rich aromas of redcurrants, dried herbs, blackcurrants and spicy oak on the nose with fleshy red berry flavours and briary undertones on the palate finishing with fine fruit tannins.

REVIEWS

Only medium-bodied, but has a long, intense and refined palate, blackcurrant fruit, tannins and oak all precisely where they should be. Screwcap.13.5% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2015 James Halliday – Tasted March 2008

Still incredibly tight and reserved, especially on the nose. The palate, however packs some substantial weight with firm tannins, deep and powerful fruit and some terrific oak treatment. It will become a very impressive wine but needs some time in the cellar to show its best. 90 Points, Ray Jordan’s Guide to Wine 2008
