In the crowded world of wine, New Zealand is paradise for Sauvignon Blanc, and New Zealand’s Marlborough region sits at the heart of it all. The abundant sunshine, low rainfall, cool nights and long growing season, helps to build and maintain the vibrant, zesty fruit flavours which make wines from this corner of the world so distinctive. Winemaker Ant Moore (Catalina Sounds) takes aim with the Crowded House, to create a generously flavoured unoaked wine that's rich and offers more opulence than many flagship Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs
Ant Moore is not afraid to do things differently, Crowded House is all about taking a fresh new look at classic New Zealand wines. Ant Moore's vineyards yield wines with good length and a smorgasbord of fruit characters. The vines are picked batch by batch, at separate times. Early picking delivers fruit with higher acidity and wonderful citrus characters. Voluptuous, richly developed expressions are typical of later picked, riper fruit. Ant Moore is well rehearsed at taking full advantage of the unique opportunities presented each season. Fruit parcels are vinified individually, inoculated with select wild ferments, assembled without any oak treatment whatsoever; into a vibrant and fresh, fruit forward styling.
TASTING NOTES
Brilliant pale straw. Very intense, tropical fruit and honey, cut grass and gooseberry. A stylish wine and thoroughly quenching, its aromatics and honeysuckle flavours mingle throughout with the lovely complexities of pineapple, lychee and snow pea. Smoothly rounded, upfront fruit, rich and full on the palate, it offers great length and intensity, with a long funky finish.
