NOTES
Plantagenet Wines was the first winery in the Great Southern wine growing region of Western Australia. From small beginnings Plantagenet Wines is now one of the most well respected Western Australian wineries consistently producing quality wines for nearly 40 years. Fruit for many of the wines is sourced from the oldest vineyards in the region. The winery is located in the heart of Mt Barker Township which is 350kms south of the Western Australian capital of Perth.
The vineyards are located to the south and west of the township. The climate is considered cool to moderate with rainfall around 700m annually.
TASTING NOTES
Fruit is sourced from our lowest yielding Rocky Horror and Wyjup vineyards that are predominantly planted with the gig gin clone of Chardonnay. This clone produces a high level of hen and chicken’ bunches that provides a more intense flavour spectrum and higher natural acidity. A small amount also sourced from Dunhelm vineyard in Denmark.
A lovely array of lemon fruit flavours, quince and melon in harmony with the winemaking derived characters that have imparted a creamy, vanilla custard note with a dash almond meal. The bouquet evolves with time in the glass providing further interest. A supple, lithe palate with a fine core of acid running the length of the palate with loads of king flavours, adding extra dimension to the vibrant fruit notes. A clean finish and delicious lingering flavours.
