NOTES
Howard Park Wines has a very simple mantra when it comes to the production of its wines - premium wine can only come from excellent fruit. Since its foundation Howard Park has held the belief that each variety is best suited to particular climates and soil types within the two premium wine regions of Margaret River and the Great Southern. Over the past 20 years, Howard Park has exerted considerable effort into defining and classifying the vineyards in these two regions by variety to ensure the quality levels demanded are continually upheld and improved. We believe this approach ensures that each bottle of Howard Park wine is the finest expression from these two regions and continues to over deliver on your expectations.
TASTING NOTES
The wine is a very pale straw in colour with pronounced green hues on the rim. The nose shows lime juice, granite and floral notes hinting of apple blossom and jasmine. The palate has great focus and purity of fruit with a pithy lime and mineral texture balanced by clean acidity. The intense lime fruit characters drive through the finish which is tightly wound yet lingering with floral and wet stone hints.
OTHER REVIEWS
The latest release from the cracking Howard Park stable. Oily lime skin explodes from the glass, mirrored on the palate too. Add a hefty dose of citrus acidity and a crisp, spritzy finish and mingle in some delicate, tropical fruit notes and a sherbet finish and you have a delicious whole. 92 Points Andrew Barrow: www.spittoon.biz, Spittoon - 06-08-2009
A restrained Riesling in typical Howard Park style, with subtle florals and an almost austere palate. The balance is superb and the texture seamless. Ideal with most delicate foods such as crab. It has a big future." Drink 12 years+ Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine - 01-06-2009
Typically reserved riesling from the Great Southern region of WA. The nose is closed up tight but herb, mineral, lime and linseed aromas hide there, and fragrant floral notes grow in the glass. The tangy palate combines refined fruit character, firm structure and savoury austerity in excellent balance. It needs time; some older vintages have aged magnificently. Ageing: two to eight years. Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure, The Age - 21-04-2009
This was first made by John Wade in 1986 and sourced from a variety of vineyards yet has consistently been among the state and Australia?s finest: deep persistent lemon and lime juice flavours, bracing yet balanced acidity. Peter Forrestal, The Sunday Times Magazine - 15-03-2009
“There are some wines that have immediate impact when you taste them, and this is one of them. Tangy apple and lemon cut straight and fine with river pebble acidity and a long crunchingly dry mineral and spice finish. It's a superior wine...
