NOTES
Howard Park Wines has a very simple mantra when it comes to the production of its wines - premium wine can only come from excellent fruit. Since its foundation Howard Park has held the belief that each variety is best suited to particular climates and soil types within the two premium wine regions of Margaret River and the Great Southern. Over the past 20 years, Howard Park has exerted considerable effort into defining and classifying the vineyards in these two regions by variety to ensure the quality levels demanded are continually upheld and improved. We believe this approach ensures that each bottle of Howard Park wine is the finest expression from these two regions and continues to over deliver on your expectations.
TASTING NOTES
Pale straw in colour with a bright green hue on the rim, the Howard Park 2007 Chardonnay is an elegant wine that exhibits balance, sophistication and length of flavour. Lifted melon, grapefruit, and citrus fruit characters define the wine’s aroma with underlying hazelnut and bready complexity appearing with time in the glass. Subtle barrel fermentation provides a fine creamy texture to the mid palate, which exhibits more weight than the 2006. The crisp acidity adds linearity to the palate and an immaculate finish with persistent citrus, cashew and toast characters.
OTHER REVIEWS
The thing about this wine is that it's so clean, fresh and long that I just love drinking it. It's not over-made like so many. It has cut and focus but a gentle nature and offers apple, melon and some grapefruit flavours with spicy oak in support and a creamy cashew richness to the texture. Fluid and graceful with fine soft acidity and a long clean finish. It's a beauty. Drink 2008 - 2013. 94 Points, Gary Walsh, www.winefront.com.au - 18-11-2009
A fine citrus-dominant style, with lemon, nectarine and a little spice from the oak; quite fine on the palate, with underlying power that really drives through to the finish; very even and harmonious. To 2017.94 Points, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010
Beautifully balanced, elegant from beginning to end; a plethora of flavours, none dominant, underscored with strength." "The Howard Park is really in its own space ? a wine of true beauty. 94 Points, Tony Keys, The Key Review of Wines - 08-07-2009
Wow! I have forgotten how competitive Howard Park Chardonnay was. Good tropical fruit flavour, a hint of banana that is hinted on the nose, and a lot of soda like minerality and lemon myrtle citrus keeping it all juicy and fresh. Length is majorly impressive. I can’t speak more highly of this wine. Ian Robertson, www.winewithoutwank.com.au - 01-03-2009
In the classic, cool Howard Park style, this is a zesty, fine Chardonnay with great length and fine acidity. Excellent fruit concentration manifests itself as grapefruit and mixed spice aromas on the bouquet and as white peach, mandarin and wisps of vanillin oak on the palate. 94 Points Tyson Stelzer, WBM 100 - 28-02-2009
You could argue that Margaret River is Australiaa's most significant high-quality chardonnay region. Flagships such as Howard Park are national benchmarks. The subtle, refined, multi-faceted '07 has aromas of grapefruit and honeydew melon with oaky spice in the background. It tastes tangy with seamless, silky ultra-fine texture and great length. Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure, The Age - 13-01-2009
A tight and powerful Chardonnay with impressive complexity. The flavours are integrated with mineral, citrus, spice and classy oak plus a savoury nutty dimension adding extra appeal. 93 Points Bob Campbell, www.bobswinereviews.com - 10-12-2008
