Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir 2008

NOTES

Land that was once a high country sheep station is now a flourishing vineyard. Sheep and rabbits co-existed on the land for quite some time but the sheep couldn't keep up with the nocturnal activity of the rabbits, and in the end were driven off the land. The owner of the Rabbit Ranch – Mr McGregor, planted some vines and tried unsuccessfully to reduce the rabbit population. Rabbits now run free on the vineyard, and fuelled by high altitude Pinot Noir, some are reputed to be the size of ponies, but that's another story...

TASTING NOTES

The wine is made in a fruit forward, easy drinking style. Lightly oaked and gently handled to display the lively fruit flavours and fine structure of Central Otago Pinot Noir. Semi translucent crimson colour with mauve brick red hue. Aromas of dark cherry, strawberry, spice and violets with some game undertones. Light to medium body with flavours of dark cherry, strawberry, spice and confectionary. Very fine grained soft tannin structure with aftertaste of dark cherry and toast.
