Squitchy Lane Chardonnay 2008

NOTES

Mike Fitzpatrick's interest in wine began on Squitchy Lane in Oxford, England, where he lived while studying at Oxford University in the 1970s. It was here that he first tasted wines from Europe’s finest single vineyards. With the taste of these great wines impressed firmly in his memory, Mike returned to Australia with his future wife Helen. After a successful football career, including captaining Carlton Football Club to two premierships, Mike began building his financial career, while his interest in Australian wines developed.

TASTING NOTES

The Yarra Valley is renowned for producing elegant, refined white wines. Such wines reflect the region’s temperate climate and growing conditions. The best examples show a marked sense of “place”, an identity inseparable from the soil where they are grown. Light straw in colour. Lively citrus and melon fruit aromas with some oak smokiness. Distinctive cool climate varietal characters shine through, thanks to our minimalist winemaking approach. Elegant, medium-bodied palate with poise and balance. Drink now or cellar for short to medium term.
