NOTES
This is now the full-time business of former Hardy’s chief winemaker Geoff Weaver. He draws on a little over 11 hectares of vineyard established between 1982 and 1988; and invariably produces immaculate Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, and one of the longest lived Chardonnays to be found in Australia, with intense grapefruit and melon flavour. The beauty of the labels ranks supreme with that of Pipers Brook.
James Halliday's 2005 Australian and New Zealand Wine Companion.
Five star winery rating (Excellent producer of very high quality wines)
TASTING NOTES
Straw with a light green tinge, the wine leads into a nose of fragrant orange blossom fruit, zesty lime and lemon sherbet. The palate displays fresh lime flavours with a flinty, mineral finish. Delicate and lingering.
PAST REVIEWS
Fragrant, sweet lemon blossom aromas; a very delicate palate, again with persistent blossom characters; drink now or much later. Screwcap.13.5% alc. Rating 93 Drink 2015, James Halliday, Tasted October 2005
A superb example, a near perfect wine of great character, worthy of the big occaaision and the best company. Three dollar signs: A wine with a price tag that makes it a steal. Geoff Weaver is one of the best winemakers in the Adelaide Hills. He shows mastery of many varieties and Riesling is a high point. The 2005 wine has a nose of juicy brown pear, lime, light bakery spices and mineral undertones. The palate is supple and mouth-filling with excellent acidity and a dry, muscular backbone. Should be a classic with time. Ageing: one to eight years; Food Ideas: Thai ginger chicken, 5 Stars, Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age, Tues 7th March 06
