Geoff Weaver Pinot Noir 2004
|
NOTES
This is now the full-time business of former Hardy’s chief winemaker Geoff Weaver. He draws on a little over 11 hectares of vineyard established between 1982 and 1988; and invariably produces immaculate Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, and one of the longest lived Chardonnays to be found in Australia, with intense grapefruit and melon flavour. The beauty of the labels ranks supreme with that of Pipers Brook.
James Halliday's 2005 Australian and New Zealand Wine Companion.
Five star winery rating (Excellent producer of very high quality wines)
TASTING NOTES
A pristine mauve colour, the wine displays lifted cherry fruit with hints of plum, spice and leather. Distinctly Pinot. The palate exhibits ripe cherry fruit, complex juicy and supple. Generously flavoured with a lingering, drying savoury tannin on the finish. Firmly textured.
PAST REVIEWS
Holding hue well; has developed complexity with some savoury/foresty characters, with particularly good length; medium-bodied within the context of the variety. Screwcap.14% alc. Rating 93, James Halliday, Tasted November 2006
