Bellarmine Shiraz 2007

NOTES

Bellarmine Wines produces a range of individual wines made from grapes grown on its picturesque estate in the cool climate region of Pemberton, Western Australia. The vineyard was planted in 2000 and is owned by German doctor, Dr Willi Schumacher and his wife Gudrun Schumacher. The Schumachers are passionate about great wine and searched the world for a place to plant vines before they chose what has become the Bellarmine property.

TASTING NOTES

Colour is a deep crimson. A fragrant bouquet of dark fruits with plum, geranium, pepper and leathery notes, trade spice and dark cherry. Concentrated, long and well defined along the palate, a medium bodied wine with exquisite tannins and tremendous integration. The blackberry/ strawberry/ cherry characters are interwoven with hints of coffee, mocha and bitter chocolate, while the fresh ground pepper and liqueuered fruit are enhanced by lightly toasted, cedar oak. The finish is long and shows exemplary balance.

REVIEWS

Bright purple-red; a fragrant bouquet leads into a medium-bodied, firm and fresh palate offering black cherry, spice and wisps of oak; fine firm tannins; good length and aftertaste. 94 Points James Halliday
