Established in 1979, Paxton is a family owned McLaren Vale wine company. Founder and owner, David Paxton, is one of Australia’s most highly respected viticulturists – a reputation built on managing and growing wine grapes of exceptional quality for nearly 30 years. The Paxton family have nurtured their own vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia, for almost three decades. Internationally recognised as one of Australia’s leading wine regions, McLaren Vale is renowned for the production of super premium quality wines – particularly red wines.

TASTING NOTES

Thomas Block is the source of the Tempranillo – the same vineyard from which the Paxton Chardonnay is produced, but from an altogether more inhospitable part of the block. A very shallow, dry corner of soil forces the normally big-berried Tempranillo to work very hard and results in small berries of intense colour and flavour.

Medium intensity dark cherry leads to a fragrant nose of bright fresh berries with savoury hints and some herbs. The palate is fresh and bright with medium weight. Clean and attractive dark cherry and some varietal earth hints, a lingering flavour and balanced structure.
