White Wine > Chardonnay > Salitage Chardonnay 2007
|
NOTES
Salitage is a premium fine wine producer located in the beautiful and spectacular viticultural region of Pemberton, in the south west of Western Australia. James Halliday described Salitage as: "the most important winery in the Pemberton region. Salitage is the showpiece of Pemberton. If it had failed to live up to expectations it is a fair bet the same fate would have befallen the whole Pemberton region."
TASTING NOTES
Mid straw in colour; The nose exhibits fruit aromas of citrus, stone fruits and melon, with oak spice and mealy characters derived from the barrel fermentation and lees contact. The palate is generous in flavour, underpinned by grapefruit like acid. The finish shows understated oak and excellent fruit flavour and length. While very drinkable now, the wine can be cellared with confidence for up to five years to gain further complexity. The wine should only be slightly chilled to achieve maximum appreciation.
REVIEWS
A rich and complex array of ripe stone fruit aromas and flavours, tightened nicely by citrussy acidity and integrated French oak. Screwcap.13.5% alc. Rating 90, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010
