Red Wine > Cabernet Sauvignon & Blends > Salitage Pemberton Cabernet Blend 2005
|
NOTES
Salitage is a premium fine wine producer located in the beautiful and spectacular viticultural region of Pemberton, in the south west of Western Australia. James Halliday described Salitage as: "the most important winery in the Pemberton region. Salitage is the showpiece of Pemberton. If it had failed to live up to expectations it is a fair bet the same fate would have befallen the whole Pemberton region."
TASTING NOTES
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 58%, Merlot 16%, Petit Verdot 16%, Cabernet Franc 10% - Crimson red in colour. Fruit aroma of mulberry, violets, blackcurrant and spicy cedary oak. Palate shows ripe fruit with a seamless mouth feel, nice weight and texture finishing with fine grained and silky tannins. A refined wine showing excellent balance and structure.
REVIEWS
Bright colour; elegant, light-bodied style with Bordeaux overtones; it is deceptive, for the sweet red berry fruits are not immediately obvious, but come up on retasting; the tannins are gossamer fine, the finish long. Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Petit Verdot/Cabernet Franc. Screwcap.13% alc. Rating 94, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010
