NOTES
Brown Brothers in Milawa, north-eastern Victoria, is one of the icons of winemaking and wine tourism in Australia. Operated in the King Valley by a pioneering winemaking family, they are always exploring new varieties.
Brown Brothers believe that wines are as different as the ‘people who drink them’ which is why they have developed a comprehensive range of wine styles and blends. With vineyards located in a diverse range of climatic regions and a 'kindergarten' winery specifically designed for innovation, Brown Brothers draws from a patchwork of vineyards to make a number of wines – many such as the Limited Release wines which you will only find at cellar door and a handful of fine wine merchants.
TASTING NOTES
Cellar Door wines provide you with the opportunity to explore new wine varieties and styles. The range includes limited releases of new varietals, experimental batches and optimum aged wines of which you will some at a handful of fine wine retailers.
The grapes for this wine were grown in the cool climate areas of the Upper Goulburn and King Valleys including our own Whitlands and Banksdale vineyards. This current release has a vibrant pale gold colour and a nose displaying peach, nectarine, cashew and integrated subtle oak. These characters follow through to the palate which is spicy, intense and beautifully balanced with the natural acidity generated by the cool climate fruit.
REVIEWS
Fig and straw bouquet with a creamy dose of toasty oak; quite toasty and generous on the palate; there is real life and nerve to the finish; surprisingly long. Screwcap.14% alc. Rating 94, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010
