Trevor Jones Sparkling Shiraz NV

NOTES

Trevor Jones began his winemaking career in 1977 at Bernkastel Wines, with Rob O'Callaghan, working through two vintages, before accepting a position as assistant winemaker at Karrawirra Wines in 1979. In 1982 Trevor was appointed winemaker and remained in that position until 1986. During Trevor's time at Karrawirra he also made wines for Kellermeister Wines.  At the end of 1986 Trevor moved to the Upper Hunter Valley, in NSW, to take up employment as winemaker for Tyrrell's Vineyards at their Glenbawn Estate Winery. In 1989 he returned to the Barossa Valley as full time winemaker for Kellermeister Wines.

TASTING NOTES

Opaque black crimson purple colour, a fine bead, ravishing purple mousse. Ripe dark cherry and mulberry, ripe plum and whole black pepper, mocha, aniseed and seasoned oak aromas. Flavours of ripe plum and raspberry, cherry jam and spice. An elegant even fine grain tannin structure balanced with a tirage of barrel aged vintage Shiraz leads to a long and persistent finish.

REVIEWS

I let this one warm a bit and it showed black olive tapenade, with blackberries and a bit of marzipan. The palate was medium bodied, with firm red berries and a lovely fizz across the tongue. There was also some cleansing acid and sweet fruits on the finish. A buoyant and lively wine! Winorama.com.au
