NOTES
The unpretentious public face of this small family winery belies the fact that they produce some of the richest and most acclaimed wines in the world. Since arriving in Rutherglen, north-east Victoria, six generations ago, the family has quietly gone about establishing a particularly enviable reputation for their fortified wines. Stephen Chambers is now making his own mark after taking over the winemaking role from his legendary father, Bill Chambers OAM.
TASTING NOTES
Produced from the Muscadelle grape, this wine is deep golden colour with a pungent nose of candied fruits, quince paste and mature rancio characters. The viscous, silky palate seduces with toffee-apple, malt and cold leaf-tea, intensely sweet fruit balanced by bright acidity and walnut skin tannins.
REVIEWS
Doesn’t get any better. No really, it doesn’t. Once you’ve experienced the deep, glowing tawny/mahogany colour, the impossibly complex aromas of coffee, raisin, honey, malt and cloves, and the extraordinarily intense, syrupy richness, you really are left wondering how sweet fortified wine could be any more perfect.
