NOTES
Hahndorf Hill Winery is a micro-boutique producer specialising in Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz, as well as a unique Rose and all wines are specifically crafted to provide a sensational experience with food.
Located outside historic Hahndorf village in the lush Adelaide Hills of South Australia the vineyard prides itself in maintaining a fresh vibrancy to the wines is due to their environmentally friendly way and of keeping their yields low to ensure pure, concentrated flavours. Their vines are rooted in a loamy mix of slate and ironstone benefiting from meticulous canopy management and yield control regimen. All the grapes are handpicked, plus irrigated as little as possible, to ensure that those carefully nurtured flavours remain locked into the berry before processing and producing the award winning Hahndorf Hill wines rated 5 stars in the 2009 James Halliday Wine Companion.
TASTING NOTES
Ultra crisp, ultra refreshing and supremely sexy, this is the quintessential summer wine! It was specifically made in the classic Italian style to accompany the sizzling days and long, hot nights of summer. It features delicate apple and pear flavours and mouth-watering, natural acidity. Light and electric on the tastebuds, this wine is possibly one of the most versatile food wines available. Serve it with char-grilled chicken breast portions tossed with crunchy mixed leaf-salad and herbs ... or pan-roasted scallops drizzled with lime juice and dusted with finely chopped dill.
OTHER REVIEWS
A triumphant take on an increasingly popular style ... A happy discovery of my extensive search for benchmark wines, this super-attractive grigio style delivers plenty of nectarine and stone fruit aromas, yellow peach, pears and gentle spices. - Nick Stock
