NOTES
Named after the proprietor of the 19th century mail coach service which once ran through their property, Henry’s Drive Vignerons is the wine operation established by Kim Longbottom and her late husband Mark who sadly passed away in 2008. Today, Kim is continuing to build the family tradition of fine winemaking with brands such as Henry’s Drive, Parson’s Flat among others. These wines are testament to Kim and Mark’s dedication to crafting fine wines from Padthaway, one of Australia’s great wine growing regions.
TASTING NOTES
The 2006 has a dense red colour, tinged with a violet hue. The opulent nose displays a lifted array of blueberries, black cherries and plums with layers of dark rich cocoa, pepper and a typical Padthaway mint lift. The generosity on the palate is juicy and fleshy, with conserve-like ripe berry fruit with lashings of creaminess. It develops a silky texture with touches of toast, caramel and spice, building to a highly expressive finish that has power, persistence but still maintains elegance.
OTHER REVIEWS
A suggestion of mint complements the ample levels of black fruit; medium-bodied and quite plush on the finish. Cork.15% alc. Rating 91 Drink 2016. James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2009
Big, smooth and round, with a distinct minty note capping a mountain of ripe blackberry, prune and charred oak flavours that mingle on the forceful finish. Drink now through 2016 – 90 Points Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator, May 31st 2008
