Red Wine > Shiraz & Blends > Henrys Drive Reserve Shiraz 2006
|
NOTES
Named after the proprietor of the 19th century mail coach service which once ran through their property, Henry’s Drive Vignerons is the wine operation established by Kim Longbottom and her late husband Mark who sadly passed away in 2008. Today, Kim is continuing to build the family tradition of fine winemaking with brands such as Henry’s Drive, Parson’s Flat among others. These wines are testament to Kim and Mark’s dedication to crafting fine wines from Padthaway, one of Australia’s great wine growing regions.
TASTING NOTES
The 2006 Reserve Shiraz, made exclusively with fruit from an exceptional single vineyard in Padthaway. The colour is opaque red with a purple hue. The complex nose displays an abundance of violets, rose perfumed talc and dark cocoa. Lively aromas of mint and eucalyptus fill the headspace. These aromas all evolve in the glass over time continuing to stimulate and impress. The powerful palate from the start hits with luscious sweet blackcurrant fruit, leading into the tight elegant structure which enfolds creamy and toasty layers. The long chewy tannins vie with the flavours of caramel, mocha and wood fired oven bread. This unique Shiraz is a stunning and superbly balanced wine.
