Hewitson ’Miss Harry’ Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre 2008

NOTES

The 2006 vintage of Miss Harry is sourced from traditionally grown vineyards dating back to the late 1800s in the heart of the Barossa Valley.

The three varieties Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre were picked at optimum maturity, fermented separately on their skins before finishing fermentation and malolactic fermentation in old French barriques then matured in these same barrels for about 10 months without racking. These are our traditional methods that intensify flavour and complexity. Almost equal portions of Grenache and Shiraz were blended together with Mourvèdre making up the balance.

TASTING NOTES

The 2006 Miss Harry continues the success of this beautifully structured, fruit-concentrated red wine that delivers wholeheartedly in a very approachable style. The colour of 2006 Miss Harry is bright red with a purple hue. The aromas are high tones of ripe strawberry and red forest berries with layers of complexity. The palate is wonderfully full, showing ripe strawberries and plums, and has a concentrated core of fruit essence with a racy acidity that gives the wine incredible vivacity. The finish is exceptionally long. 2006 Miss Harry is quite an exceptional wine and is absolutely world-class.

OTHER NOTES

2006 Miss Harry- "... a piece of textbook craftsmanship"
Campbell Mattinson, The Big Red Wine Book on May-2008

"Clean, ripe, controlled. Excellent mid-weight drinking. Gets the mix of spicy grenache-like flavour and sweet dark shiraz flavour exactly right, the exotic leathery appeal of mourvedre needing only time to show its worth. This was one of the first wines to waltz easily into the pages of this book. Look for the supple tannins- they're a piece of textbook craftsmanship. DRINK: 2009-2014." 93 points

2006 Miss Harry "Very pretty Grenache fruits here..."
Nick Stock, WBM100 on Jan-2008

"Very pretty Grenache fruits here, good lift, attractive red musky scents and ripe raspberry. The palate is weighty and even, dropping brisk red and dark cherry fruits, more raspberries and soft east tannins built on a ripe sturdy frame." 92 points

2006 Miss Harry "Best Miss Harry yet? Probably"
www.winorama.com.au on 16-Nov-2007

"This is upbeat and cheerful and smells of cherry pie, fresh berries, flowers, spice and some earthy leathery things. On the palate medium to full bodied with a mix of ripe berries, cherry pie with a squirt of cream, licorice bullets and some dried herb and leather flavours. It feels fluffy and feathery with fine tannins, fresh acidity and good length of flavour. Best Miss Harry yet? Probably." 92 points Gary Walsh
