Red Wine > Shiraz & Blends > Buckshot Vineyard Heathcote Shiraz 2006
|
Buckshot is a colonial term used by winemakers to describe soils that combine ironstone and quartz into small pebbles. The vineyard supplying our grapes has an abundance of these soils 1 meter below the surface. Buckshot soils are integral to the quality of our wine, providing excellent drainage and valuable nutrients to the vines.
NOTES
There are 500 cases of this beautifully made, barrel-aged (both French and American) Shiraz.
Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by aromas of blueberries, smoke and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, with sensational intensity, modest alcohol for a Shiraz of this size (14.2%) and moderate tannin, it will benefit from 1-2 more years of bottle age and should drink well over the following 12-15 years.
