TASTING NOTES
Garnet ruby red in colour, the nose has aromatics of spiced plums, cherries, black berries, and red berries. These then develop to cloves, leather and star anise. The palate is fresh, clean, soft and round. The wine has plenty of maraschino cherry characters from the Sangiovese on the mid palate; these are balanced by the rich berry fruits of the Shiraz. The wine has the typical fine grained tannins of an Italian Chianti.
OTHER NOTES
An interesting nose: cherries and red plums, a bit of cinnamon and pepper, a touch of black earth. A lighter bodied palate, fleshy and sparkily red cherries with spices, but it is also Thespian, portraying a darker more sinister side too, with a black plumminess. A very enjoyable wine, and also has a nice acid ping on the finish – very refreshing. There is also a bit sweetness too, perhaps from the alcohol, but the acid on this wine is a real winner.
