NOTES
Il Barone (The Baron) was named after the Pizzini family being bestowed two Baron Hoods for services to the Crown in Italy in the 17th & 18th Centuries. Il Barone is a blend of four varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo.
TASTING NOTES
A blend of Cabernet, Shiraz, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. The fruit has been carefully selected from the best sites of the vineyard, made separately, blended then bottled and cellared for 2 years prior release. A beautiful wine showing the best attributes of all four varieties. New French oak creates an inviting round entry to the palate with nuances of spice, liquorice, cherry and leather. It displays elegance and finesse with a lingering finish that is defined by fine chalky tannins.
OTHER NOTES
"This majestic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese from the King Valley is powerful yet elegant. A complex nose of allspice, leather and dark cherries leads onto a well-structured palate with chalky tannins." Uncorked Sunday Life Magazine June 2006 - 5 Stars
"Spicy, meaty and browning, this firm, rustic and powerfully structured blend has a slightly raisined expression of deep, dark plum-like fruit backed by meaty suggestions of prunes, dried herbs, polished leather and dark chocolate. Drying and powdery, it has plenty of personality and richness. Give it some time.
