NOTES
The Highland clans used a runrig system to distribute land amongst their clansmen in a series of widely dispersed holdings. The emphasis not on any one farm, but rather the communal element of the whole. 95% Shiraz and 5% Viognier from parcels yielding a mere 14.5hl/ha. The Shiraz component spends thirty monthsunder a combination of mostly new, and seasoned French oaks. The Viognier is fermented and aged for six months under barrel and added to the Cuvée just prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Super deep colour with an enchanting nose of opulant blackberry, blueberry and redcurrant fruits. Hints of violets, Asian spice, chocolate, licorice, BBQ’d meats, coffee and well judged spicy oak. The wine displays fantastic richness and concentration in the mouth and while textured and weighty across the palate, everythings in balance, with ripe black and red fruits, a touch of violet-lift, espresso, meaty facets, licorice and chocolate and the trademark melt in your mouth, uber-ripe Torbreck tannins. There is plenty of under-lying structure for improvement in the cellar with this release also. Bright acidity, a core of fantastic fruit and a finish the lingers beautifully and has you madly gesticulating for a re-pour. Super stuff.

OTHER REVIEWS
"Firm in texture, this is raw around the edges but very juicy underneath, brimming with blueberry, blackberry and a distinct floral note from the Viognier. The finish lingers effortlessly against fine, crisp tannins!" -Winespectator.com
"Heady and briary, its spicy aromas of dark plums, licorice, cassis and violets are assertively backed by smoked meats, raisins and almost herbaceous undertones. Forward and sumptuous, it’s richly concentrated with baked Christmas cake-like flavours, Framed and finished by firm, drying tannins, it’s given some sweetness by dark chocolate/vanilla oak!" -Jeremyoliver.com.au
"Saturated opaque purple/black, it has a remarkably kinky, exotic perfume of fresh asphalt, pencil lead, smoke, pepper, game, blueberry and black raspberry. Full-bodied and voluptuous in the mouth, the wine is dense and packed, with amazing purity, sweet tannins, and a complex collection of sensory stimuli!" -eRobertparker.com
