Red Wine > Grenache & Blends > Torbreck The Steading Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2006
|
TASTING NOTES
The Steading is Torbrecks classic Barossa version of the Rhone Valley classic blend using grenache, mataro and shiraz. Grenache gives the wine perfume, Shiraz mid-palate weight and the Mataro provides the tannin structure. The fruit comes from a core group of growers that Torbreck have forged lasting relationships with mainly from the Gomersol, Marananga, Seppeltsfield, Moppa and Koonunga Hill districts. The age varies between 17 & 150 years with an average yield of 22 ha/ha. With 34 vineyards contributing to the blend each parcel of fruit is vinified seperately before spending time in 6-8 yr old American Oak.
Glass staining with a deep penetrating red/purple colour, the wine opens up with masses of liqueured deep black and redcurrant fruits, raspberry and asian spice. The palate displays a lovely expression of darker fruits, dark plum and blackcurrant, chocolate and spice, red currant and raspberry nuances with great depth.
