Imported White Wines > New Zealand > Marlborough >

Konrad Sauvignon Blanc 2008

NOTES

The company is fully owned by Konrad and Sigrun Hengstler. They originally migrated from Germany to Australia and then, having decided to become involved in the wine industry, made the move from there to New Zealand to plant Sauvignon Blanc grapes in Marlborough.

The site which is located in the Waihopai Valley, affords magnificent views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The two company-owned vineyards are located in the heart of the Marlborough wine growing region at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. The sites, one in the Wairau Valley (20 hectares) and the other in the Waihopai Valley (10 Hectares) have been planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Noir since 1996.

TASTING NOTES

A brilliant, pale straw green colour, this is a ripe style of Sauvignon showing elements of passionfruit, mango, melon and stone fruit, as well as subtle yoghurty complexity from 20% barrel fermentation. The palate if soft, full and dry taking richness from the excellent fruit weight achieved in the vineyard. Classic Marlborough Sauvignon flavours of tropical fruits and underlaid by a vein of exotic fruits reminiscent of guava and lychee. The extract of the wine fills the mouth while acidity keeps the palate alive through to a clean, dry finish.

Great with seafood and a variety of soft cheese cheeses, also superb with Asian or Italian cuisine.
