Dominic and Krystina Morris are a young winemaking couple with a passion for making interesting, premium red wines. They met while working vintage in the Barossa Valley and together spent many years travelling and working consecutive vintages in Australia and Europe.

All the Pondalowie wines are dense, impressive, firmly structured - reflecting the warmth and red soils of their terroir - but the Tempranillo is the star - complex, generous, spicy, slurpable."

TASTING NOTES
We named this wine ‘MT’ as a tribute to the expression ‘Minha Terra’, a term used by Quinta do Crasto winery workers when describing the place that is their home or where they come from. This seemed appropriate for a wine that is a unwooded expression of the Tempranillo variety grown at our home, Bridgewater on Loddon. Aromas of cherries, raspberry, cola, leafy tobacco and mineral characters precede a palate rich with soft red berry, cherry fruits and earthiness. Although unwooded, it is medium bodied and has natural, fresh chalky tannins and great length. Serve this wine slightly chilled on a hot summers day or enjoy anytime with tapas.

A more-ish young wine, more successful than just about any Aussie tempranillo’s we’ve tasted. The colour is bright and youthful, and the nose has appetizing aromas suggesting fleshy dark cherries and licorice. The makers see cola and sarsaparilla as well and we won’t argue - it certainly is different. The medium-weight palate is smooth with ripe flavours in a savoury ‘Euro’ fashion. Drink it young with jamon and vegetable pastries.
