White Wine > Chardonnay > Scorpo ’Aubaine’ Chardonnay 2007
|
NOTES
Scorpo Vineyard & Wines is owned and operated by the Scorpo family. Twenty-five years as a horticulturist and landscape architect have given Paul Scorpo a unique perspective on the design documentation and construction management for an extensive range of projects. These include international golf courses, streetscapes, educational institutions, public parks and private gardens that may be found around Australia, Europe and South East Asia.
Paul’s Italian heritage along with wife Caroline’s shared passions for food, wine and gardens has been passed down to their daughters Emma, Sarah and Claire. This enduring combination of pursuits around similar endeavours has inspired the family to work together on a project to create a truly unique vineyard on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
Paul Scorpo's meticulously planted vineyard on the Peninsula is producing some truly superb fruit, and with the help of Sandro Moselle at Kooyong winery the Scorpo wines have deservedly received some serious attention.
Aubaine is an historic Burgundian synonym for Chardonnay. It means, amongst other things, good fortune.
TASTING NOTES
Mineral, chalky and malty chablis-like aromas. The style extends to the palate, which is tight and minerally, almost eerily Burgundian. Very un-Aussie. A new secondary label for Mornington's Scorpo, whose wines are made at Kooyong by Sandro Mosele.
OTHER REVIEWS
Quite delicate, yet intense; long and well balanced; nectarine and grapefruit flavours; subtle oak, and a lingering finish. Enticing price. 94 Points, James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion 2009
