Tahbilk Marsanne 2006 (Nagambie, VIC)

NOTES

WINNER 2007 VICTORIAN WINES SHOW TROPHY - BEST NON-WOOD MATURED WHITE!

Tahbilk's history with Marsanne can be traced back to the 1860s with the sourcing of White Hermitage cuttings from the St Hubert vineyard. The grape in fact was Marsanne and although none of these plantings have survived, Tahbilk still produces Marsanne from plantings dating back to 1927, some of the oldest in the world. Marsanne has immense individuality of flavour, good body and well worth trying if you want something different. A long and distinguished pedigree for this wine throughout the vintages, having claimed four trophies and twenty-five gold medals.

TASTING NOTES

The bouquet and palate of unwooded style, exhibit intense aromas of lemon, honeysuckle and peach whilst the finish is long and flavoursome balanced with crisp acidity. Magnificently fruity thoughout the tight and flavoursome palate, lovely stonefruit and warm hints of mellow ghostly peach danish. Sensationally unwooded and crisp dry, these complex characters will develop with bottle age into the familiar honeysuckle fragrance traditionally associated with Marsanne.

OTHER REVIEWS

"Great length of flavour, like a dart thrown from a distance. Lemon, pineapple, spice, tang, zing, zest, whacking acid. Very good. Drink!" -Campbell Mattinson

"The ’06 Marsanne is fragrant & delicate with floral fruit salady aromas; it tastes dry and grapey with lively acidity. It’s a perennial bargain."
Ralph Kyte-Powell - The Age Epicure

"Light straw-green, with aromas of honey, melon & spice, this wine has a long harmonious palate, with a gold-plated guarantee to develop honeysuckle and gentle toast as it ages over the next 10 plus years"
James Halliday’s Top 100

"A particularly good vintage for this old favourite, the 06 Tahbilk is wonderfully citrusy and tingly on the tongue, but there seems to be an extra dimension to the honeysuckle perfume.
Great value." Max Allen – Gourmet Traveller
