Cullen Cabernet Merlot 2007
|
NOTES
Red wine quality is defined to a large extent by the ripeness of tannin. The wines style is framed around these fine grained tannins coaxed from grapes grown on low yielding vines. This is the theme for all Cullen Red wines and gives finesse, flavour and longevity.
TASTING NOTES
This wine form the 2006 vintage shows classis, elegant structures as a result of the cooler season. It comprises blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec and was matured for 18 months in French oak. And initially, it showed some strong oak influences on the nose. But it settled down nicely after a while to reveal red currants, cedar, a bit of tomato leaf, red plums and tobacco. The palate displays a lovely elegance, refined red fruits, softness with richness, and a little bit savoury notes as well, with the nutty creaminess in the background.
