NOTES
Olssens of Bannockburn is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of John Olssen and Heather McPherson. Established in 1989, Olssen's Garden Vineyard is the pioneer vineyard of Bannockburn and the Cromwell Basin. Situated at the western end of Felton Road, the 16.2 hectare (40 acre) property bears the
regional hallmark of beauty and excellence. With its park-like setting and stunning views it is more than a high-quality wine producer. The first vines were planted in 1991 and the remaining half in 1995. Olssens is nestled amongst the dry thyme covered hills of Bannockburn, where the essence of nature is captured by vines deeply rooted in the rocky, gold-bearing schist soils.
Grapes on the Olssens vineyard are all hand-picked, placing the emphasis on low yield, high quality sustainable practices. Only wine made from the estate-grown grapes carries the Olssens brand of sophistication and elegance. The headline wine is an intense Pinot Noir with savoury, fruity plums and black cherries.
OLSSENS TASTING NOTES
Vibrant purple colour with purple hue. Medium body. Lifted nose showing strong spice, clove and cinnamon notes, followed by a hint of anise, cherry and ripe strawberry. The palate has excellent weight and mouthfeel – velvet smooth tannins. Very long aftertaste of strawberry, cherry and spice. An excellent example of Pinot. 13% Alc
